We’re proud to share some exciting news from Duck Hollow - our wines have been featured in The Great Wine Blog, a respected voice in Australian wine that champions thoughtful, expressive and well-crafted bottles. Being recognised by a publication that values authenticity and restraint is a special milestone.
A Spotlight on Natives From Naples
The feature highlights our debut collection, Natives From Naples, a trio inspired by southern Italy’s Campania wine region. Crafted by Chief Winemaker Adam Holmberg, the collection focuses on varietal clarity, texture and balance, using Australian-grown fruit to express classic Italian varieties in a fresh, modern style.
As noted in the article, these wines are produced as small-batch wines, with an emphasis on precision rather than power and are designed to be inherently food-friendly wines - versatile, vibrant and made for the table.
The Wines, As Tasted
Duck Hollow 2025 Falanghina
An exciting introduction to a rare variety in Australia, our Falanghina is sourced from the Murray Darling in Victoria. Pale gold in the glass, it shows floral, chamomile and passionfruit aromas, with medium acidity and a subtle saline edge. Described as “lots of fun with an easy-going vibe,” this is a refreshing, expressive food-friendly wine that invites curiosity and enjoyment.
Duck Hollow 2025 Fiano
Sourced from Heathcote, Victoria, our Fiano was praised for its balance, charm, and texture. With ripe fruit, vibrant acidity and depth gained from eight months in oak, this wine captures the generosity and elegance that Fiano is known for. A true small-batch Australian wine made for long lunches and shared moments.
Duck Hollow 2024 Aglianico
Our Aglianico, sourced from the Murray Darling, was described as idiosyncratic and expressive, sitting stylistically between Pinot Noir and Grenache. Light to medium-bodied with gentle tannins, it delivers red fruit vibrancy alongside richer, savoury notes and a lively acid line. A modern take on a classic southern Italian red.
Thoughtful, Modern Australian Winemaking
The article also recognises Duck Hollow’s commitment to certified vegan wines, small production volumes and a restrained winemaking approach that favours balance over heaviness or excessive oak. These principles sit at the heart of who we are as an Australian wine brand - crafting wines that are approachable, expressive and made to be enjoyed with food.
